Trust & Safety

Your pet's safety is the whole product.

Every piece of the WellKept Pet experience — from vetting sitters to handling payment to stepping in when something goes wrong — is designed around one job: keeping your dog safe.

Background checks

Every sitter goes through identity verification and a multi-state criminal background check via our partner Checkr. Re-checked periodically.

Insurance on file

Every active sitter carries their own professional pet-care insurance ($1M general liability + $25k animal bailee). We review and stamp the certificate; lapsed coverage pulls the sitter from public listings until renewed.

Admin-vetted before listing

A real human at WellKept Pet talks with each sitter before they go live. No automated approvals.

Real human support

Real humans on our support team. No chatbots, no offshore tier-one queue — when you message us, someone who works on WellKept Pet reads it and replies.

Review transparency

Reviews are only accepted from verified completed bookings. We do not edit or remove reviews that reflect real experiences.

Meet-and-greets

Before your first booking with a new sitter, we encourage a free in-person or video meet-and-greet so you both feel good about the match.

Secure payments

Stripe Connect handles every booking — money never changes hands in person. Owners are charged when the sitter accepts; payouts land in the sitter's bank account directly.

Dedicated reporting

Every concern goes straight to our small team. We act on safety reports immediately, not on a queue timer.

What to do before your booking

  • Complete a meet-and-greet with your sitter before the first booking.
  • Share detailed care instructions: feeding, medications, routines, emergency contacts.
  • Provide your vet's contact information.
  • Confirm your sitter has read and understood all care instructions.
  • Make sure your pet is up to date on vaccinations and flea/tick prevention.
  • Have a backup sitter or boarding option in case of emergency.

Something not right?

Whether it's a question about a sitter, a concern during a stay, or a late-night emergency — we're here. Message in-app or email us and we'll take it from there.
